PARCEVALL HALL

Refugee visits and fundraising

We are very glad to be welcoming refugee and asylum seekers from Bradford & Leeds for two residential visits to Parcevall later this year. We’re working with the Yorkshire Dales’ Millennium Trust and skilled volunteers to provide what we hope will be a relaxing and peaceful couple of days in the beautiful surroundings of Wharfedale.

Half the cost of these visits will be met by the Friends of Parcevall Hall. We’re holding a fund-raising coffee morning on Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May from 10am – 12noon, with proceeds going towards the remaining cost of these visits, and ongoing refurbishment, renovation and repair projects.

There will be tours of the Hall, coffee, tea,  and our renowned home-made cakes for an entry price of £6 per person.  Our fantastic cakes can also be enjoyed at home! – cakes and other produce will be on sale.  All are welcome, and you are warmly invited. Please spread the word to family and friends.

Donations

If you are unable to come to our coffee morning but would still like to contribute to these projects,  you canmake a donation to the Hall, or to the Friends.

Serendipity

Some years ago now, the window ledge by the bookcase in the Writing Room was dedicated to ‘Serendipity’. Here would be items for sale which were antique,  ‘vintage’, or of practical use and in good condition.  Some were priced, and for the rest, you paid what you thought the item was worth.  What a great idea, we thought, so we are bringing Serendipity back!  We will start the ball rolling with objects kindly donated by the staff, and you are welcome to donate small items of your own you are not as fond of as you were, or don’t have a use for any longer.

Counselling can be at its most effective when we look in-depth at the human psyche. The testing steps we go through in life unavoidably create suffering, which can make or break us.  To heal and develop understanding from sorrows and distortions there is a need to reflect on how we manage the ‘self’. This course will discuss how the ‘three souls in every man’ interact within us, and how listening to this hidden intelligence slowly shapes our being into a healthier place, to give greater wisdom and integrity.

Marion Duff MBACP has been an in-depth freelance counsellor, supervisor and trainer in South Manchester for three and a half decades.
